On October 22, 2025, we mark the second anniversary of the passing of Tetiana Kostiantynivna Zavgorodnia, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Bohdan Stuparyk Department of Pedagogy and Educational Management, and Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine.
Tetiana Kostiantynivna’s earthly journey ended on October 22, 2023, at the age of 74 — a life devoted to pedagogical science, the university, her students, and her hometown.
She was born and educated in Ivano-Frankivsk, graduating from Secondary School No. 3 with a medal and from the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of the Ivano-Frankivsk State Pedagogical Institute with honors in 1970.
From 1984, Tetiana Kostiantynivna’s academic and pedagogical work was inseparably linked with Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. After completing her postgraduate studies at the Research Institute of Pedagogy of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, she defended her Candidate’s Dissertation on the theory of education, and in 2000, her Doctoral Dissertation on “The Development of Teaching Theory and Practice in Galicia (1919–1939).”
From 2003, Tetiana Kostiantynivna headed the Department of History of Pedagogy, and from 2006 to 2020, she led the Bohdan Stuparyk Department of Pedagogy, to which she dedicated her heart, knowledge, and pedagogical talent.
Her scientific legacy includes numerous articles, monographs, and textbooks reflecting her profound vision of the development of education, upbringing, and teacher training. Key areas of her research included the development of schooling in Galicia, the theory and practice of educating youth in higher education, and the history and contemporary challenges of preparing future education specialists.
The life of Tetiana Kostiantynivna Zavgorodnia stands as an example of true service to science and people. Colleagues, students, postgraduate students, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her preserve the bright memory of a wise mentor, sincere and energetic person, and principled scholar who combined rigor with humanity.
The warm and lasting memory of Tetiana Kostiantynivna will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew, loved, and respected her, who worked and learned alongside her.
