On October 14, 2025, a meeting dedicated to the implementation of the pilot project “Student Ombudsman” took place at the Human Rights Protection Center in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. The project was initiated by the Regional Office of the Ombudsman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights in Ivano-Frankivsk, under the leadership of Vitalii Verbovyi.
From Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, the event was attended by Taras Paska, Assistant of the Bohdan Stuparyk Department of Pedagogy and Educational Management and Chair of the Council for Research Work of Students, Postgraduate Students, and Young Scientists, and Nataliia Bashuryn, Deputy Director of the Educational and Research Law Institute.
During the meeting, participants discussed the goals and objectives of the pilot project, which is aimed at protecting students’ rights, increasing legal awareness, and fostering an active civic position among youth. The initiative provides for the creation of an authorized representative who will advocate for students’ interests, act as a mediator between the administration, faculty, and students, and carry out educational and awareness-raising activities.
Special attention was given to developing cooperation between students, educational institutions, and local government bodies, in line with current trends of expanding youth participation in governance processes.
The Bohdan Stuparyk Department of Pedagogy and Educational Management supports this initiative, as it contributes to developing students’ legal awareness, promoting a culture of rights protection, and expanding opportunities for youth to actively participate in educational and civic life.
We thank the organizers of the meeting for their fruitful collaboration and contribution to enhancing young people’s legal awareness!
