The Ministry of Education and Science has published the Admission Procedure for 2026: the university is preparing its own adapted version of the rules

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has published the Procedure for Admission to Higher Education in 2026, which defines the key rules for conducting the admission campaign to higher education institutions.

The document covers:

• admission requirements at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels;

• a complete calendar of the admission campaign — from registration for trials to enrollment;

• mechanisms of competitive selection and organization of the work of admissions committees.

Separately, the Ministry of Education and Science has prepared an applicant’s guide, which explains the main stages and innovations of the campaign in an accessible form. General framework of the campaign Admission, as before, will be on a competitive basis.

The key digital platform remains the applicant’s electronic account, registration for which will begin on July 1 and will last until October 15, 2026.

Key changes in 2026

Among the main innovations:

• a new limit for submitting applications has been established: up to 10 in total (up to 5 per budget);

• a priority system for applications for master’s degrees has been introduced, including for the contract form;

• the weight of creative competitions has been increased (coefficient — up to 0.7);

• most interviews and creative competitions will be held in person;

• the possibility of accepting the results of European final exams instead of NMT is provided;

• Cover letters are no longer required.

Bachelor’s degree: the role of NMT

The basis for admission to the bachelor’s degree remains the results of the NMT, which in 2026 will include:

• three mandatory subjects (Ukrainian language, mathematics, history of Ukraine);

• one subject of your choice.

You can also use the results of the NMT for 2023–2025.

Competitive score and selection strategy The competitive score is formed taking into account the weight of subjects for each specialty, which reinforces the importance of informed choice.

Applicants are recommended to analyze the subject coefficients in advance and determine the priority of applications, as it is impossible to change it after submission.

Preferential conditions and special categories

There are separate admission requirements for:

• war veterans and persons with disabilities as a result of war;

• entrants from temporarily occupied territories;

• Ukrainians who received secondary education abroad.

For some categories, it is possible to undergo an interview instead of the NMT or participate in a competition based on quotas.

Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University is currently working on the approved MES document, taking into account institutional specifics and educational offers.

In the near future, the University Admission Rules for 2026 will be published on the university’s official resources, which will contain detailed admission requirements, a list of specialties, subject coefficients, and an application submission algorithm.

The university will ensure timely, transparent, and synchronous communication of all stages of the admissions campaign.
